I can’t imagine the powers that be would want their ‘cheap labour’ back on the outside when they could have you working again on the inside.

I’m not American so I hesitate to comment on the system and please correct me if I’m wrong here.

It seems to me that the US slave trade has simply become more organised and more hidden by narrative. I feel like even someone thinking it’s about ex cons not being given a second chance, is branding the government with some kind of moral thinking mind which it doesn’t have.

Governments don’t look after their ex cons because you are more profitable on the inside. Capitalism is an intert, dead series of rules that function to put business growth over human benefit.
