It’s amazing how all of these teachers have such basic notions of enlightenment. Emptiness of self is partial truth.
I thought adyashanti was going to get somewhere good but they he just left it out in the middle of nihilism.
I suppose notions of self or no self, well being and suffering are all barriers to understanding.
It’s really hard to understand what enlightenment means. I think we need to think of it like chocolate.
If you’ve never encountered it, nobody can fully describe it to you.
You may have seen the shiny packet and you think that’s it. Partially it is.
You might have gotten a choco whiff. It’s powerful and you think that’s it. Partially it is.
But when you taste it. It’s like nothing you’ve ever dreamed of. Can you describe to others? No way. Just colour, shiny packet. But taste, smell? No way. Any attempt to understand intellectually becomes another piece of luggage that will need to be dropped. I’m just going off texts. I haven’t sampled the chocolate myself 😂💙
